Beaverdale Beautification Committee meeting 9/18/23
Attending: Nancy Dunbar, Marion Wissler, Jean Swanson, Barb Mullins, Sasha Kamper
PARKS: Ashby - flowers have been replaced by mums Beaverdale - annuals will be removed after frost Westchester - annuals still look good Witmer - park dedicated on 8/18, speeches and video thanked everyone who contributed, nice new restroom
TREES: no new requests for memorial trees at this time. Trees are continuing to be watered until they go dormant.
URBANDALE AVE MEDIAN: Nepeta still looks good at intersection, and alyssum planted in the bed near 34th St looks good. Nancy & Mary Ellen will continue to walk the median on a regular basis to collect trash.
FLOWER PICK UP AND PLANTING: Flower order for 2024 will be due Sept 29. Have received orders from John for Bel Aire and Palm Ave. Bob and Sue Knutson have also submitted order.
2023 GARDEN WALK: funds were distributed, already have a garden for 2024. Ryan will post photos on Beaverdale Garden Walk Facebook page.
STREETSCAPE: flowers have been removed from planters, mums installed, maintenance seems to be a bit better this season.
FALL FESTIVAL: everyone thought the parade went well although set up was a bit chaotic. Carnival did very well. This year’s t-shirts sold out. Clean up well. Problem with vehicles parked on the median both nights needs to be addressed.
COMMUNICATION TO NEW MEMBERS: Nancy has continued to send letter to new members interested in Beautification to recruit new volunteers.
NEXT MEETING: Oct 17th at 6:30 at 6336 Hickman Rd.
