SCRUB stands for Spring Cleaning to Reduce Urban Blight. It's the city's mission to enhance neighborhoods by giving residents an opportunity to yard waste and debris from homes and yards.
Neighborhood groups in NW Des Moines are sponsoring a MEGA SCRUB on Saturday, May 20 at Polk County River Place from 7:00 am-1:00 pm. Any Des Moines resident can use a MEGA SCRUB event, but proof of Des Moines residency is required, so bring an ID.
- Please review the SCRUB guidelines before you show up with items you wish to dispose of.
- The MEGA SCRUB includes household hazardous waste. Please see the list of accepted items.
- SCRUB events are free to Des Moines residents, so expect delays,.
- Volunteers are still needed to help direct traffic and check ID's. There are two shifts. If you can help, please sign up here.
