Parks: Ashby – annuals have been planted, Toni has been working on flower bed cleanup. Beaverdale – annuals have been planted, Westchester – roses are pruned, annuals planted, Bel-Aire and Palm Islands – John will pick up plants from Nancy, Holland island bed – plants are available to add to bed.

Trees: Barb got 2 buckets for Marion’s tree. Family will water.  A Japanese Tree Lilac was planted in memory of Keith Minard on May 2 in the Urbandale Ave median just west of 44th Street. Rita is watering.  Dan Just is now our contact in City Forestry..

Memorial Tree Walk: Scheduled for Sunday, May 24, 2-4 pm. (Meet at Beaverdale Brick sign across from Fareway). Carole compiled handout for day of Walk, will add TreeKeepers website and thanks for support to Boesen’s for ribbon and Image 360 for plaques. Decided to print 75. Donisue received ribbon from Boesen’s. Will meet with Nancy, Terry, Toni and Carole to tie ribbons to memorial trees in median Wednesday afternoon.  Nancy compiled list of trees and their locations. Depending on number of interested walkers, Nancy will lead a group west, Terry and Carole will lead a group east.  A car will be available at each end to bring some walkers back if needed.  Some volunteers will remain at sign to inform late comers. Take photos for story for Sidewalk. Weather forecast looks good.  

Urbandale median: Nancy and Mary Ellen continue to walk the median and pick up trash when weather allows. Grass is growing in bare spots that were seeded by the city.  Terry and Jean pruned the roses.

Streetscape:  As of this meeting, planters have not been planted with summer annuals. Typically done after Memorial Day.  Dead streetscape trees that were removed have not been replanted yet. Sasha offered to contact Dan Just about them.

Flowers: 19.5 flats were picked up May 15 by Nancy and Terry. Extra flowers left over may be offered to local schools.  Fewer flats needed next year.

SCRUB: There were 16 BNA volunteers at SCRUB.  Long line at the beginning dwindled to nothing by noon. Very well organized.

Next BNA Social: June 3rd at Beaverdale Park, 5-7pm cookout, everyone welcome.
