Beaverdale Schools

Beaverdale is home to four Des Moines public elementary schools: Hillis, Monroe, Moore, and Perkins. You can find more information about these schools, in addition to middle schools, high schools, open enrollment and registration processes, departments and more at the Des Moines Public Schools website

Also located in Beaverdale is Holy Trinity Catholic School  for preschool 3s through eighth grade.

Beaverdale Northwest Aquatic Center

The Northwest Auquatic Center is located next to Hoover High School. The pool has a water slide, a zero depth entry, a water mushroom and a shaded swim area. Des Moines Parks and Recreation holds swimming lessons at the aquatic center during the summer.

Beaverdale Parks

Beaverdale has four beautiful parks: Beaverdale Park, Ashby Park, Westchester Park and Witmer Park. All parks are spacious and have playgrounds and picnic facilities. Ashby Park features two tennis courts, plus a splash pool for children. Witmer Park has a pond for public fishing, a walking path, two tennis courts, and a ball field backstop. Beaverdale Park is the location of BNA's annual Easter Egg Hunt, and is adjacent to the Inter-Urban Bike Trail.

Public Library and Community Center

The Franklin Avenue Library is a Des Moines Public Library. It hosts many events and programs for children, teenagers and adults, and has meeting rooms available to the public. 

The Northwest Community Center is located just west of the Franklin Avenue Library. It has several meeting rooms available to the public, a congregate meal site for seniors over 60, and is the location of the BNA's quarterly meeting.

Beaverdale and Nearby Shopping and Restaurants

Beaverdale is home to many wonderful businesses and restaurants. Take a stroll down the newly landscaped downtown area at the corner of Beaver Ave. and Urbandale Ave. 

In addition, Beaverdale is just 10 minutes from downtown Des Moines, 5 minutes from Drake University and Varsity Theater, 5 minutes from Merle Hay Mall and Flix Brewhouse, and 10 minutes from Valley West Mall.
