Beautification Committee Meeting notes 11/19//24

Attended:  Nancy Dunbar, Donna Foltman, Toni Hayes, Sasha Kamper, Terry Thielen, Jean Swanson

Parks: city workers have removed annuals from the flower beds

Trees:   The buckets can be removed from Eugene’s tree.  The guard will remain in place. Carolyn Wissler requested a Sugar maple be planted in the spring when Marion’s family could attend. She would like it near Delos’ tree in the median between 48th St. and 48th Place.  Nancy will work with Shane about placement.

Urbandale median: Marion’s grandkids would like to do a Walk-a-thon trash pickup to celebrate Marion’s birthday next July.  His birthday is the 16th.   Nancy has been picking up trash regularly.

Streetscape: Winter greenery has been added to the planters today.

2025 Garden Walk: confirmed gardens: Laura McFarland-2003 46th St. Amber Siever-3807 Adams, Angela  & Bill Lawrence-2721 47th St.  Ryan Kolder-2917 48th St.  Doug Sullivan-3526 47th St.  potential gardens: Rachel Rolfes-2922 46th St, Beth Wilson-4601 Beaver Crest ,  Nancy Dunbar-2919 46th St,

Discussed the possibility of selling tickets online.  Nancy will check if the new BNA website being designed could do this.

Representative for board: We were asked to try to provide a representative from Beautification for the BNA board elections in Feb.  Terry Thielen volunteered. However, Terry will be out of town during election at the February Quarterly Meeting.

Next meeting: next meeting will be the annual dinner, Jan 21st at 6 PM,  Toni will check availability at Hugo or Louie’s Wine Dive.
