Beaverdale’s meeting place, Grounds for Celebration, has been sold to a new owner.

For 30 years, George and Jan Davis ran the popular coffee shop in the Beaverdale plaza. It’s where friends, family and business colleagues meet to share and colloborate.

According to the Des Moines Register, new owners took control of Grounds on January 1. The shop was sold to Abigail and Ryan Russell and Juliana Biedenfeld.

In a new release, George Davis said, “When we started Grounds (for Celebration), we wanted to create a place for neighbors to stop in, relax and enjoy a high-quality and uniquely roasted coffee with beans from around the world.” He continued, “We’re excited that the Grounds tradition will continue.”

The new owners also take over the Grounds operation in Windsor Heights.

Abigail Russell has been a barista and a member of the Grounds team. Ryan Russell said in a news release, “This has been a dream of ours for years. When the opportunity came along to preserve and grow a neighborhood coffee shop that we love, we knew it was the perfect way to bring our passion for coffee together with our love of communities like Beaverdale and Windsor Heights.”

George and Jan Davis will still be in the coffee shop from time to time to greet long-time customers and help fill orders.
