The city of Des Moines said Friday afternoon that due to the rain received overnight and rain anticipated this weekend, the start of the Hickman Road repaving project will be pushed back one week, to Friday, June 12. The work was originally planned to start today, June 5.

The city is repaving Hickman Road starting at Merle Hay Road and proceeding east to Beaver Avenue. Both road surfaces have deteriorated badly, as motorists navigate over potholes, large cracks, and temporary patches.

After completion of the Hickman project, work begins to repave Beaver Avenue.
