Beaverdale neighbors have an opportunity to provide input for what should replace the Green State Credit Union at the northeast corner of Beaver Avenue and Urbandale Avenue. The intersection is at the heart of the Beaverdale business district.

Green State closed its location earlier this year and moved to a new location on Merle Hay Road.

Realtor Matt Connolly with Iowa Realty says there’s a possibility of constructing a mixed-use building with retail on the first floor and condos above. The nearly one-acre site is for sale for $1.5 million dollars.

Connolly says one concept under consideration is to tear down the bank building and replace it with a retail/condo complex. Connolly says it could help meet the need for Beaverdale residents looking to downsize from their homes but stay in the neighborhood. He calls it a tentative plan with nothing definitive yet.

Connolly is hosting an open house for developers and interested neighbors on Tuesday, July 14, 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the former credit union site at 2805 Beaver Avenue.
