Saturday morning broke cold but sunny for the annual Beaverdale Easter Egg Hunt at Beaverdale Park.

Volunteers showed up early to set up areas for specific age ranges and to spread the plastic eggs filled with candy and prize certificates.

After a few announcements, Beaverdale volunteer organizer Sasha Kamper started the countdown to 10:00 am sharp. Kids rushed into the area to grab up the plastic eggs and see what was inside.

In about two minutes, it was all over. Then it was time for the kids to open the eggs to see what was inside. Most got candy. Some eggs also had prize tickets inside, which allowed them to pick out a free prize appropriate for their age, such as stuffed animal or a children’s book. Each age range also had one grand prize, which awarded them a goody basket, courtesy of Beaverdale Confections.

The Easter Bunny was a big hit with the kids, who lined up to take pictures with the bunny, who was nice and warm in his coat of fur.
