Part of Beaver Avenue to close

This story has been updated on 8-30-24 to reflect the city's decision to delay the repaving project until after Beaverdale Fall Festival.

Part of Beaver Avenue from Hickman Road to Beaver Crest Drive will close for several days later this year.

The closing was initially scheduled to occur about a week prior to Fall Festival, but because of the potential that a delay could interfere with the festival, the city has now pushed back the project until after Fall Festival.

The city of Des Moines will be milling down and resurfacing the roadway.

A detour will be set up using Hickman Road, 30th Street, to Leado Avenue to Urbandale Avenue.h wo

Beaverdale Fall Festival is scheduled for September 20th and 21st. The Fall Festival's parade route will run along Beaver Avenue, again from north to south this year.
